Nietzsche, Bukowski, Or Ginsberg
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
The rain,
It washes away
My affliction and sadness.
The darkness I hold
Joins with me
Through each moment
Like a heavy cross.
No one knows
The plagues I face.
Ive tried talking about it.
She won't listen.
The raindrops
Mask my tears
As the thunder
Cloaks my screams.
Finally,
The deluge I deserve
Falls hard tonight.
I am where I belong
Forever alone,
Lost
In my own thoughts.
I thought I found a love
To chase away the night.
But like the sun
The affection,
It slipped through my fingers.
I am left in the storm
With my strain and despair.
The rain,
Is the only sound I trust.
I will stay
Lost in my darkness
Letting the rain
Do all the talking.
In this place of refuge
I will seek solace
From the likes of
Nietzsche,
Bukowski,
Or Ginsberg.
With the rain
As my only companion,
I'll endure,
Until the end of my dance.
I am glad
It's raining tonight.
It's the only thing left
To lave away
My dejection and regret.
I'll stay in the darkness,
Where no one can see me
In the rain.
