Isolated and Silenced
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The hand of God was upon me,
He told me to rise and go out;
What He spoke would help me to see,
For the shedding of any doubt.
I arose and went up the hill,
Where the glory of the Lord stood;
I fell down as He did instill,
Being as righteous as I should.
His Spirit entered into me,
As He set me upon my feet;
Go home and wait for His decree,
Listen to none trying deceit.
O son of man, behold the rope,
Placed upon you and tied to bind;
Be silent as you learn to cope,
Building patience to ease your mind.
The Lord will make your tongue to cling,
In your mouth so that you are mute;
For the rebellious house will bring,
Violence during their dispute.
But you shall then say unto them,
He who will hear then let them hear;
Those who refuse God will condemn,
Their defiant house does not revere.
