Left Alone
Left Alone
The shutters rattle loudly.
The shop opens in darkness
Shadows cover empty shelves ,
Not yet filled.
A bus, with lights still on,
Crawls past an empty stop.
People stare through misty windows.
The light of an early riser
Throws a silhouette against a window.
Soft footsteps .
People walk as if afraid
Of waking blackened houses .
Couples have yet to speak.
The cars drive far apart.
The sigh of waking fills some mouths .
Some alone, some left alone ,
Sit and stare Into the hollow .
A day for some begins .
A night for some is endless
Left alone.
