The LORD Speaks
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Have you entered into the sea?
Walked in the recess of the deep?
Did you listen to His decree?
While you were tending His sheep.
Have the gates of death been revealed?
Have you seen the gates of darkness?
For the Book of Life is unsealed,
And it does display your starkness.
Do you perceive the breadth of earth,
If you know this, do you declare?
Have you known from your time of birth,
How much is God willing to share?
Where is the dwelling of the light,
Away from the place of darkness;
Being a blessing in His sight,
The place in finding the pureness.
You may take it to the nation,
That discerns the path to its home;
The Lord will give His salvation,
And guide me from where I did roam.
You know the reason you were born.
The number of your days is great;
For here God wants you to sojourn,
Until He meets you at His gate.
