Leaving the nest

Leaving home,
 a bittersweet feeling,
like a new adventure,
a new beginning.
Memories to cherish,
and tears to shed,
A path to follow,
a bright future to be led,
A heart full of hope,
a mind full of dreams,
A journey to unfold,
a life to redeem,
Leaving home, is like a step into the unknown
but with some courage and faith, you'll find a new home.

About this poem

I wrote this while in a special spot in my life. I just got accepted into my dream ECHS! And then, it all hit me. I was growing up so fast, everything I once knew I would soon leave behind to go start a new life.

I was born on Fernandina beach, FL. At a young age, my creativeness started. My dad has always been my biggest inspiration. Before he passed away, he was always so creative, and would inspire me to follow my passion of the arts, and make an impact on people. For a long time, I didn't have my mom until later in my life, she's always told me to follow my dreams, and that's what I'm doing now. I love playing piano, poetry, and playing alto saxophone! I cherish everything I do everyday, and do my best to succeed. more…
