Truth Refused
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
People who refuse to accept what is true,
To accuse others of being insensitive...
Of what they are going through.
In times when denial,
Has for many been replaced...
For escapes made to chase away reality.
Is a damage created by fiction to delude,
Truth for what it is not to be.
Although continued is a fantasy.
Inflicted upon those disturbed mentally.
With recommendations to suggest,
They should seek professional help.
Done to be prescribed,
To numb the effects of being deceived.
And the mental inability to accept,
Lies they are told.
From who and where they hear them said!
'Doctor?'
'Yes?'
'I can not believe,
Most of my life I accepted lies told to me.
Can you?'
'Well...
For many years it took me,
To earn my medical degree.
And the agony I went through,
To locate this place to open...
My own private practice to faithfully deliver,
What patients like you need from me...
Desperately.
I can only confess to do the best I can,
To listen to you...
As one of my regular and loyal patients.
These days I can't afford to lose.'
"Oh...that's a relief.
So glad I am,
To have discovered someone...
Who agrees with me to repeatedly encourage,
What my needs are to keep refilled!'
'And...
Remember,
Whenever you need more of my advice?
I am here for you.
There's no need for you...
To think twice about it.
Here is your prescription.
I have increased the dosage to ensure,
Together we will eventually cure...
Your anxieties.
To completely eliminate the effects.'
'Oh.
So glad I can expect that to happen.
Doctor?
When do you suspect that time to come?
Before or after your upcoming vacation?'
'Who knows.
These situations are personal.
And depending upon the weather,
Especially in the Caribbean.
I may or may not,
Have to remain sheltered in my condo!'
'And me?
What about me?'
'You?
You have no worries.
Most storms like that,
Originate off the coast of East Africa.'
