For Church Sake
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The Lord says to His anointed,
Who is the right hand He has grasped;
Subdue the nations He appointed,
Unlock any doors that are clasped.
Open the doors and the closed gates,
So that the Lord will have access;
Unlock them because He awaits,
For wanting to hear you profess.
He will be going before you,
To level the exalted place;
Breaking the bronze doors to pursue,
Cut bars of iron that embrace.
He will give darkness of treasures,
And the hoards in secret places;
To know the Lord what He pleasures,
Calling what the chosen faces.
Although you have not known the Lord,
He is God, there is no other;
Who needs to be loved and adored,
Never to worship another.
You may know from the rising sun,
Not from the west but from the east;
Any other worshipping none,
As the Lord will prepare a feast.
He formed light and created dark,
He created peace and evil;
Follow the Lord where you embark,
So you can avoid the devil.
