Blessing
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
We give thanks to God our Lord,
Constantly mentoring in prayer;
By remaining in one accord,
All the supplications we share.
Think of our God and Father,
Of your faith and labor of love;
Steadfast hope of our Brother,
Jesus Christ that is up above.
As we know, brethren loved by God,
That the Father has chosen you;
For through the Gospel that we laud,
The Word had become flesh as true.
Power through the Holy Spirit,
And having the full conviction;
Assurance that we inherit,
Eternal life through salvation.
You know of the men for your sake,
Who have become imitators;
Through affliction, the Word did make,
Astonishment from instigators.
You had become a believer,
Because of the Word of the Lord;
Faith has made you a receiver,
Giving salvation to afford.
Concerning of your reception,
From idols how you turned to God;
Like a newborn at inception,
Serving Him to honor and laud.
You wait for His Son from Heaven,
Whom God had raised up from the dead;
For the wrath that will be given,
To the fate that the wicked dread.
