Instructions on Prayer
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I urge thanksgiving through prayer,
Be done with your supplications;
That you will continue to share,
Any and all intercessions.
Made for those in authority,
Regardless as a friend or foe;
If godlessness or honesty,
Dignified or scoundrel you know.
It is good and a pleasing sight,
Unto our Lord and Savior;
Whom the Father will have delight,
And by blessing you with favor.
God desires all to be saved,
Come to the knowledge of the truth;
Letting not them to be enslaved,
To sin arrogant and uncouth.
There is just one mediator,
Christ Jesus who bridges the break;
As our negotiator,
To the Father for our sake.
He gave Himself for to redeem,
As the testimony given;
And now He is reigning supreme,
Upon His throne up in Heaven.
I’m a poet, not a preacher,
Writing the truth of Jesus Christ;
Through poetry as a teacher,
My faith in Him has been enticed.
