Wounded Spirit

They came from across the sea but finding you they had not planned, you welcomed them with open arms and willingly shared your land. You shared your great knowledge and taught them many things, you shared your Great Spirit and offered great blessings. Instead of responding with gratitude their hearts turned sour and they responded with greed and hunger for power. They took your freedom, your rights and your land, you had no choice but to give up and disband. You’re forced to live in poverty and unhealthy conditions, good healthcare is non existent so your bad health is persistent. How can such beautiful and loving people be treated so bad? You deserve so much more, this makes my heart sad. You are intelligent, loving and strong and you never did one single thing wrong. You are working hard and doing the best you can and this makes me so proud to be Native American.
