God of Comfort
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Bless God and Father of the Lord,
Father of mercies and comfort;
Our afflictions not ignored,
His compassion will help avert.
He comforts us through afflictions,
Our solace when we suffer;
He helps curb our addictions,
For Jesus is our buffer.
The Father will send His Spirit,
During our tribulation;
That causes it to inhibit,
Bringing about cancellation.
Share suffering abundantly,
The consolation that abounds;
Keeping your humbled dignity,
Recovery helps in your rebounds.
It’s your comfort and salvation,
While you patiently endure;
Because of your consolation,
That the affliction has kept you pure.
The hope for you is unshaken,
For the sufferings that you share;
In a new day you awaken,
After going to God in prayer.
