Attractive Wisdom
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
The Lord possessed me at the start,
At His works of His acts of old;
Before the beginning impart,
I was set up to see unfold.
I was brought forth there were not deep,
No springs abounding with water;
As the earth seemed to be asleep,
Since it’s clay and He’s the potter.
Before the mountains had been shaped.
I was brought forth before the hills;
Before all the fields had been draped,
With flowers and crops that God wills.
When He had established Heaven,
I saw when He drew a circle;
He made the sky, air was given,
Fountains from the deep were agile.
He assigned the sea its limit,
So the water might not transgress;
That the waves could only buffet,
At their calming, they would regress.
He charged the basis of the earth,
The foundations of His command;
That the occupants would give birth,
To populate on the dry land.
A master workman with delight,
Happy in a dwelling for man;
It was such a joy in His sight,
Sons and daughters in His plan.
