A Grateful Heart
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I give thanks to You O Lord,
Singing praise with my who heart;
To remain in one accord,
Having my lips to impart.
I bow down within Your church,
Giving thanks for steadfast love;
Faithfulness no need to search,
You have exalted all above.
Above all Your Name and Word,
I cry out and You respond;
And knowing that You have heard,
Because You see I have fawned.
My strength of soul you increase,
And the kings shall give You praise;
When the rulers declare peace,
In Your Word each one obeys.
They shall sing the ways of You,
Because Your glory is great;
Knowing that Your Word is true,
Your judgment will seal their fate.
Even though the Lord is high,
You regard those who are low;
Because the proud will deny,
Trust the evil far below.
Though I walk amid trouble,
You are preserving my life;
Rescuing me from rubble,
That causes burdens with strife.
You deliver me from danger,
My foes are feeling Your wrath;
But to me slow to anger,
As I walk the narrow path.
You will fulfill your purpose,
For me in Your steadfast love;
Forgiving any trespass,
Never forsaking thereof.
