The Dreamer

Gaudencio V. Balongcas 1955 (Lalaguna, Lopez, Quezon)

But why a dreamer dreams a wild fantastic dream
That he wants to hold on by the grip of his hand?
Just like what other dreams though it’s hard it may seem,
Has courage to go on, going on firm and grand.

The dreamer dreams a dream coupled with fantasy,
He’s dreaming a dreamland, a palace in the sky;
But a dream is a dream, it is full of fancy,
Like eagle must have wings, he must learn how to fly.

Flying high above all’s the dreamer’s quest to see,
With his wisdom and might he dreams rise to greatness;
No such tons of barriers could hinder him to be
The hero of his dreams, hence the time’s his witness.

It’s the time, it’s the chance that fill the dreamer’s dream,
Wherever he may be so guided by his will;
He’s dreaming something else, it is but high esteem
The by-word success’ twin giving him silent thrill.

The dreamer dreams a dream nothing but happiness,
Can be felt by his heart and his mind can reflect;
Within his very soul filling up emptiness,
It’s the love that controls the human intellect.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because I once had a dream of becoming somebody someday and I struggled so hard just to obtain college education and worked for it as a working student.
