WAIT, DID I SAY...

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

WAIT, DID I SAY…?
Did I say a word to you
As you walked away?
I don't know what to do
Or the right things to say

And words seem to escape
Right from my very lips
Wrap my words in tape
And still the meaning slips

What I meant to say…
What I tried to show…
And you just walk away
Before you even know

A poet should have a word
Right there ready to convey
But still you never heard
Just what I have to say

But these words aren't mine
The words I have to say
Yet they come quickly I find
When I stop to pray

Now I tell you of the Cross
An which Jesus hung for you
Dying to save all the lost
Redeeming us from all we do

But He wasn't held by death
He rose up from where He lay
Let me catch my breath
I've said what I had to say

My friend bow and think today
Of what Jesus did for you
And if you still walk away
I've done as I was told to
AMEN

About this poem

Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. Mark13:11
