Felix the Little Fox - Short Story

The little fox cub awoke that fine sunny morning and yawned. His name was Felix and he was very hungry. Mummy had gone to get him and his siblings some food. However Felix was restless and wanted to explore his new territory. Mummy had moved them to avoid the male foxes that were prowling around the area.

Felix decided to leave the den. Off he went on an amazing adventure. He ran over the fields and past the large Oak tree. He saw a little stream and decided to drink from it. The sun was hot on his fur. At least he had now quenched his thirst. He saw some sheep in the farmer's field. What funny noises they made baa, baa, baa. He past some horses in the next field and they began to nay, nay, nay.

The little fox saw a spider and decided he would capture the spider. At last something to eat! However the spider outwitted Felix and Felix's paw got caught up in the sticky spider's web. Finally Felix got the sticky substance off his paws and moved on.

He saw some deer leaping about in the sunshine. "Those deer are too big for me to eat" thought Felix. Then Felix spied a rabbit and off he went after the rabbit. The rabbit went down the rabbit hole and so did Felx! "Oh no I'm stuck" said Felix".

Suddenly in the distance Felix heard the short, shrill shreiks of a female fox. It was his mummy. She ran to where Felix was and pulled him out of the rabbit hole feet first.

"Felix what are you up to?" said his mummy. "I was looking for something to eat mummy". "Felix you are too young to go off hunting alone. Leave that to me" said his mummy.

So Felix and his mummy went home and there were his siblings tucking into a lovely rabbit. Felix joined his siblings and him mum and they all tucked into the meal together and that was the end of Felix's adventures because mummy knows best!
