Away from the falling walls and raging wars,
From the thickened pools of blood,
From the darkened fields of burnt thatches,
Hope has built us a fortress.
This is where we have found solace.

Here lies the reward of our fortitude.
Come brothers; enjoy your peace and solitude.
Hence on this long windy path from here,
If our heads lay against the rocks of the woods,
There will always be the single thought; of home.

About this poem
