IN PRESENT TENSE

        IN PRESENT TENSE
Learning from my genealogy that I am
first cousin to William Shakespeare, a
past and future crammed into present
tense, owing integrity to complexity
with “shadows of my sorrow”, reason
by itself so often confounded, him as
me an explorer of words, never really
knowing myself, until reflected in my:

Poems; I discovered I; my eyes now
with sight, feelings of new intensities
finally “one true sense” in a phantasm
of a mortal dream; my instruments of
genius in council being, now how sweet
the moonlight sweeps upon my woods
or as he would have said: “sleeps upon”.
Love now looking with the mind, as “if
I had conscious let it sink in.” The time
always changing, yet always the same.
