Assets Ascension

For the love of money can affection be created, for a Maserati life can your childhood dreams be abated?

A world of fortune and powerful gifts, does the Genie’s lamp and all three wishes set fire to an ice-cold bed?

Yes it’s true, my means are meager but all
my thoughts are of how to comfort and please you!

Will the price of diamonds be at your hearts expense, will the love you make be so intense?

Will he idolize and worship you in the distance of the same room? Will he think of nothing but the desire to reach out and touch you, when you’re apart will his eyes well with
tears as mine do?

I’m faced everyday with this material world which I can’t escape, my only sorrow is knowing I can’t for these things compete.

At night I lay awake thinking of ways to make
you stay, frustrated and optimistic when there’s a will there’s a way.

Is there something I could sell, how much could I earn stoking the furnace in a fiery hell? I look around an empty house, another day of working, who am I kidding, I’m living hand to
mouth.

Look in the mirror as reality hits me, all that I have is all of nothing. Just a bleeding heart that leaves a trail to follow. But if you’re not searching where will I find a tomorrow?

Don’t you feel the love you’re missing, do you gaze into each other’s eyes when you’re softly kissing?

Does he know how to make you quiver with a single touch? When you make love does he cradle and shelter you from all you fear, does he wash your face with his own, does he know the whispers you need to hear?

When you sigh does he inhale just to hold a part of you inside, when you speak does he listen, and not just hear.

Will he go down on you till you’ve passed your fill, likewise as attentive when you are ill?

If you were willing to teach, would he desire to learn? Can he read the heart on your sleeve, when you feel anxious does his passion burn to satisfy your needs? You’ll have everything the world has to offer, all but a lifetime of childlike slumber.

I wish upon a star I named after you. I write in this book, song and emotion, expressions not so fleeting, my profound love for you and it’s every intricate meaning.

The center of my universe is what you would be, if only love could buy you back for me.

Numi

"Numi" is the pen-name I adopted in 2007 after a friend gifted me a copy of The Essential Rumi; by Coleman Barks. After reading some of my works, it was suggested that it reminded them of the works by Rumi. In no way do I align myself with this Great Master Poet, but I do feel a deep connection to his poetry, and the book of Essentials was my constant companion during a 5 year saga, where I was stranded in the Amazon Jungle of Peru, from 2010-2015. Everything in my collections were written during a 4 year period, 1999-2003. more…
