Letting Go
I reached for your hand,
It never was there.
I lived for you,
And you still didn't care.
You filled my thoughts,
Not thinking of me.
I saw only you,
You never could see.
I tried and tried,
To be who I am not.
Whatever you wanted,
Was what you got.
I was not what you wanted,
Whatever I did.
And the man that I loved,
In you never lived.
I tried to hold on,
At whatever length.
But it was the letting go,
That took all my strength.
