Lost in the Dark

I sit here alone
lost in the dark.
My soul is caught up
in a high cliff wall
waiting to descend
to the waiting rocks below.

I know there are things
that I cannot change
but nevertheless I
continue the struggle
to find peace and happiness.

Long ago, I was told
that if I waited
good things would come to me.
How long must I wait
lost in the dark?
