I loved to sing
Sweet melodies and songs of praise
to ballads and modern music

My voice would dance across the notes and pages
Freely moving and connecting people to the tune
It freed me to sing

A nightmare that I can’t wake from.
Grief is ugly, earth-shattering, and heartbreaking.
It is a tear-stained face. Grief is eyes full of tears and numbness.
