Analysis of Gospel Advancement
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Know what has happened to me,
Serves to advance the Gospel;
Shedding glory for to see,
For spreading to the people.
It has become known throughout,
To the rest, as a captive;
I do not have any doubt,
That Christ shows me how to live.
Having become confident,
In the Lord made me a fan;
Because it is evident,
Making me a righteous man.
I am bold enough to speak,
The Word of God without fear;
Spreading it to those who seek,
The truth and have been sincere.
Some indeed preach from envy,
But others out of goodwill;
Some speak while they blaspheme,
Steering others to instill.
For I do it out of love,
Knowing what I remain here;
For defense from up above,
Because of Christ, I revere.
I proclaim Christ for knowing,
Not from selfish ambition;
Enables me in showing,
Of spiritual nutrition.
Only that in every way,
Whether in pretense or truth;
What Christ preached every day,
As been spoken since your youth.
