Analysis of The Meaning

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

You kiss my poem. I hung it on the wall. I tell you, it means a lot to me. But you don't understand it at all. Okay, your boyfriend comes over and brings you flowers. But you don't care; you take a shower. You take care of the elderly all day long, every day. It means nothing to you anyway. What it means is that you can't see far away. I sit here on the floor, cold, scared, and crying. But to you, it doesn't mean a thing. You just go home and forget everything. Well, to the elderly, that means a lot. To that boyfriend, he never stops. To me, being cool and scared means you care. Is it too much to ask for a hug? But you go home and pull the plug. Someday, you will be the one in need. On that day, you will know what I mean. Everything in life has a meaning, and I think it's time for you to get some feelings.
