Analysis of God Speaks
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Where were you when the Lord laid,
The foundation of the earth;
Understanding what He made,
The true value of its worth.
He defined its measurements,
And stretched the line upon it;
The marvelous achievements;
As brought forth by his merit.
When the morning stars sang out,
The sons of God shouted joy;
For there was never a doubt;
The reasons He did employ.
He shut in the sea the door,
When it burst out from the womb;
Making a hole at its core,
To place Satan in his tomb.
God made the clouds its garment,
Thick darkness its swaddling band;
Sun-drenched as a fine raiment,
That showers down on the land.
For prescribed limits decreed,
Set in placing doors and bars;
Allowing time to proceed,
As God has set all the stars.
Hitherto that shall I go,
Here shall the proud waves to stay;
The blessings the Lord let flow,
If creation will not stray.
