Used As A Joke
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
What purpose is there left,
To defend a truth kept to protect.
When the doing of it,
Upsets the ones...
Disapproving how it was done.
In a manner direct and effectively.
What purpose is there left,
For one who is challenged to explain...
An honest emotional action taken,
To defend not only their integrity.
But also a family.
Chosen in public to defame.
And not to flatter.
By one who has obtained a comedic name.
Is laughter to have that important to value?
When done to demean,
One's physical appearance.
Is the doing done any different,
Than using one's ethnic heritage...
In public to abuse and ridicule.
And used as a joke.
To laugh not with but at as if,
Historically they should be accustomed to it!
Leaving the provoker,
Honored and praised.
For being a celebrated clown.
And anticipated to offend,
With approval and permission given.
'I am still not understanding,
Why someone would be that upset.
When they should have expected,
To be publicly ridiculed.
Trashed and laughed at to purposely demean.'
'I don't understand it either.
Why should they expect to be respected,
When many today are idolized...
For frauding to corrupt and deceive,
Not only themselves.
But also business associates.
Neighbors, friends and their own families.'
'Ain't that the truth.
Maybe their wishes to have themselves seen,
As being special people.
You know...
Those who want to be regarded,
As respectfully different from others.
And...
They came prepared to enforce this delusion!'
'I understand.
And yet...
Don't they too,
Live to represent...
The very best of what is fictioned?
Faked depictions of reality.
In a place where nothing created,
Is believed to accept as being real.'
'Until a slap is felt to feel.
A reality not to mistake it for anything else.
Shocking to stun those,
Out from under their pretentious poses.
With a fearing reality getting too close.'
