Bogus Bowlers
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Be the monkey.
See no evil, hear no evil.
Or speak a word of it heard.
Be you the monkey.
Peeling a banana.
And staying away,
From those bogus bowlers breaking...
Rules disobeyed everyday nonstop.
Just observe them,
Setting up the pins to knock them.
Just observe them,
Behind the scene with rocks.
Pretending they are not false bowlers.
But not one bowling ball they've got.
Be the monkey.
See no evil, hear no evil.
Or speak a word if it heard.
Be you the monkey.
Thought to be stupid swinging from trees.
And having no interest in history.
Pretending not know,
Who deliberately deceives.
Day in and day out.
Watch those bogus bowlers play their game.
Unchanged to remain the same.
Day in and day out.
Watch those bogus bowlers seek a fame.
Done to claim.
Just observe them.
Setting up all laws to fraud.
Just observe them.
Wanting to win...at any cost.
While undoing every rule to obey.
Claiming themselves to save a game played.
Be you the monkey
Day in and day out.
Stay to be the monkey.
See no evil, hear no evil.
Or say a word about what you have heard.
'Uh...
We are happy you appeared before us,
Without being forced to do it.
Can you again tell us,
Just how you obtained...
The proof and evidence you have.
And remember the three of you,
Are under oath.'
'Yes.
Well...
We got tire of listening to allegations made.
Of fraud and corruption,
Going on in our neighborhood.
Especially the bowling alley.
Our beloved bowling alley.
An establishment we have known for years.
And so...
While sitting in a restaurant,
Munching on bananas.
One us came up with this idea,
To masquerade ourselves as monkeys.
And that's how we gathered,
The proof and evidence of corruption...
Conducted.
By those bogus bowling clowns.'
'Where are the balls?
Who had them?'
'That question we asked ourselves.
Apparently they felt no need to use them.
And right then we knew,
None they had in the first place.'
'You should be proud,
To be the monkeys you are.'
'Were.'
'What?'
'We disguised ourselves as monkeys.
Real monkeys we are not.'
'Thank you for that clarification.
Will the court recorder,
Make that correction...
As a misunderstanding,
In what appears...
Not to have been costumes worn.
But a fantastic job,
Camouflaging their true identities.'
