Effective Correctness
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Effective correctness.
And the presence of accepted defects.
Enforced to protect,
An endorsing of a process to obtain progress.
That common sense,
With aware consciousness rejects.
Can only remain to stay,
To be witnessed.
Of such an approved foolish nonsense.
Implemented to cement it with permanence.
And...
By those who once objected,
To an effective direction taken the wrong way.
With a hope to achieve a positive outcome.
But told,
The ones sitting in positions...
Would not be where they are,
To make final decisions.
If they did not look intelligent enough.
Or had the appearance of an image,
That qualifies them to also be competent!
'Uh...huh?'
'No offense.
Even though your credentials,
Are without question impeccable.
And you speak with a clarity,
No one would suspect or detect you to be...
Let's see.
No one would suspect or detect you to be...'
'A hip hop rapper?
A drop it like it's hot limbo dancer?
Or a lover of chicken wings.
And to carry my own bottle of hot sauce.'
'NO WAY?
ARE YOU SERIOUS?'
'Yes I am.
Very.'
'I was going to say,
An Ivy League School scholar.'
'I'm that too!'
'So what. Big deal.
But you?
You can get down and funky.
I love that.
I've been looking for YOU,
To add some flavor to this tired scene...
For decades.
When can you start?
Would you like to take your two week,
Paid vacation now?
Or after you and I go shopping?'
'Shopping?
For what?'
'If you and I are going to be hanging buddies,
I know you want us to look the part!?
It's all about appearances.
Don't you know that?
Oh yeah.
Look around that empty office over there.
My assistant recently quit.
Claiming I was too demanding.
Too pretensious and image conscious.
Like the rest of these...
Charading fakers.'
'I...I...
Really don't know what to say!'
'Here.
Take my card.
Call me...in about 20 minutes.
I have another interview.
We'll discuss your answer over lunch.
Okay?
What kind of cars do you like?
Never mind yell me later.
My other interview just arrived.
Do me a favor.'
'Sure.
What?'
'Tell that dude standing there.
Looking impressive.
Tell him...
You are my choice.
No.
Send him in.
And call me in 10 minutes.'
