Homeless

I was shaking, shivering, in a cold bliss,
And I was wondering, expecting, hoping for warmth amiss,
I walked and walked and walked some more,
Only to lay down near a joule box for a snore,
A few hours for days still an early rise,
To return to work some more at a work most despise,
Sleepy, yet pushing to complete a day,
Only to wander to find a place to lay,
Streets of busy bodies come and go,
Walking without minding how far I'd go,
A tear here and a tear there as I reference mistakes,
No longer do I sit among others with steaks,
Grateful at a point of where I used to be,
Still emotional in comparison to how I used to sleep,
No longer do many bother me,
Still I rise consistently,
Another brother in familiarity I see,
Thankful for a familiar face smiling with glee,
Realizing how my improprieties interpersonally,
Still I try and try to demonstrate how important another is for me.

About this poem

This poem illustrates some experiences of a path going through with unsurety and unknowing of how to live after being alone and distant from those who care to raise me. When being in a struggle to keep up to be a productive citizen in the United States while remaining optimistic even when I had no home to stake a claim.
